1. What is your fitness story?
When I first started working many years ago, my cousin was managing the local YMCA gym just a short walk away, so I joined up. Ever since then, no matter where I have lived, I’ve always had a gym membership. In Australia, I joined a hiking group which gave me the motivation to hike wherever I lived and now on holidays as well.
2. What is your typical fitness routine?
I have a personal trainer session once a week that focuses on core strength exercises, and I follow up by myself with one or two similar sessions a week. For variety, I also have a 10k run each week. In the better weather, I enjoy hiking most weekends.
3. What motivates you to stay fit?
Once fitness is part of your life, it has an undeniable momentum. I know that if my aerobic or strength falls away it’s going to be hard work to get it back. This reminder makes it easier to stay moving!
4. How do you fit working out in your life?
I usually plan a week ahead and try hard to stick to it. If I don’t feel like going I make myself anyway because after a few minutes I’m okay again. If something changes and I have to skip a workout, I make myself catch up, without being obsessive about it.
5. What are your health/fitness plans for the future?
After surprising myself with a good time in a half marathon last year, I’m tempted to try a marathon now. I had a knee problem then, so I have not convinced myself it’s a good idea yet.
6. How long have you been using Argus?
One and a half years. I started because I wanted to track my training for the half marathon.
7. What are the top 3 things you track using Argus?
Water, coffee and wine! That might sound strange but I had a small health issue mid-2015 and needed to reduce coffee and wine and increase my drinking water. Using the graphs really helped me and significantly contributed the health issue normalizing by six months later.
8. What advice do you have for new users of Argus?
Like fitness itself, make it a habit to use the app every day and record whatever is important to you. Include the mapping if you’re outdoors because people like me are always interested in them.
The Argus community is full of wonderful and inspiring people embarking on their own unique fitness journey. If you, or someone you know, have a great story to share, we would love to hear from you. Contact us by emailing maggie@azumio.com.
