Let’s face it – your typical workout at the gym can get repetitive and boring.

There’s only so much you can do to stay motivated while mindlessly jogging on the treadmill everyday. Luckily, most gyms offer several popular classes that can easily cure your workout rut and provide you with an all-body workout class that will keep you scorching calories.

1. Kickboxing

This hour-long workout combines martial arts techniques with heart-pumping cardio, giving you a total body workout that’s guaranteed to burn calories and fat. It’ll help tone up your entire body and also speed up your metabolism.

2. Spinning

This low impact exercise is great for people who can’t run on the treadmill due to bad knees or joints. They are either 45 or 60 minute long classes that involves warm-up, steady uptempo cadences, sprints, climbs, and cool-downs. You control the resistance on your bike to determine how difficult your pedaling will be. Your instructor will give you guidelines as to how fast you should be going, how hard you should be working, and when to stand or sit.

3. Yoga

Whether it’s vinyasa yoga or bikram yoga, yoga will provide you with physical benefits such as increased flexibility, strength, muscle tone, good posture, and better breathing. It can also benefit you emotionally. Many people who practice yoga have been able to reduce their stress levels and help calm their mind through yoga’s meditation techniques.

4. Bootcamp

This hour-long class mixes strength training with cardio intervals that tones your entire body and keeps you burning calories. It’s a very high intensity workout since you’ll be participating in various types of explosive routines and your body has no time to rest. This type of class is great for pushing you past your mental or physical block.

5. Piloxing

What happens when you combine pilates and boxing together? You get their brainchild, Piloxing. This 60 minute class consists of standing Pilates, cardio-pumping boxing moves, and dance segments (think Boxing + Pilates + Zumba). With regular visits, piloxing can improve your speed, flexibility, and stamina. It can also boost your energy levels, tone your body and strengthen your core.

6. Barre Workouts

This type of workout is a blend of strength training (using your own body weight or light hand weights), interval cardio, and lots of deep stretching on the ballet barre. The ballet-inspired workout focuses on using small, isometric movements that will keep your muscles burning and shaking with fatigue during the entire class.
